Protection from toxic gases such as ethylene oxide in the workplace

Monitoring of single toxic hydrocarbons for industrial applications

For years, Synspec has been developing monitors to measure hydrocarbons for industrial safety. The Delta is Synspec's line of hydrocarbon monitors for industrial safety and emissions applications. Synspec's vast experience of manufacturing gas chromatographs for ambient air combined with the requirements of industrial customers led to the Synspec Delta analyser.

The Synspec Delta 100 and Delta 300 analysers are gas chromatographs (GCs) specifically designed for industrial applications to ensure occupational safety, emissions and process control.
Depending on which component and its concentration you need to measure, a Delta 100 or Delta 300 system with suitable detector, columns, and sample collection system is recommended.

The main reasons why these systems are used in industry are as follows:

- Safety of employees in the workplace
- Safety of nearby residents
- Emission measurements
- Process control

Environmental and occupational health and safety authorities increasingly require very strict monitoring of carcinogenic and toxic hydrocarbons.
Therefore, measurements in the low ppm to ppb range for indoor areas and in the low ppb range for outdoor areas are mandatory.

Hydrocarbons that can be measured with Synspec Delta:

Ethane                           Ethylene
Benzene                         Epichlorohydrin
Vinyl chloride                 1,3-butadiene
Ethylene oxide               Propylene oxide
Dichloroethane              Trichloroethylene
Dichloromethane           Tetrahydrothiophene
Isoamyl alcohol

Gas chromatography for industrial requirements

Synspec Delta software is specifically designed for industrial safety monitoring. Each Delta GC is customised for your application. Based on the components and concentrations that need to be measured, the appropriate detector, columns, sample collection system and application software are installed.
This automated system continuously measures the required components, has simple software and can, for example, automatically provide time-weighted averages. The system comes with software that can communicate with external data loggers using industry standard protocols. Automated calibration and validation options are also available. Adaptations for Ex-safety are possible. A measurement point switch for up to 15 measurement points is integrated in the Synspec Delta GC software.

The analyser is a compact 19-inch GC for installation. It contains all essential elements: computer, sampling unit, backflush valve, separation column in a special small oven unit and detector. The detector can be FID, TCD or PID depending on the application.

Analysis of up to 15 sample lines

The Synspec MULTI CHANNEL SELECTOR (MCS) can be used in combination with the Synspec Delta GC system to analyse up to 15 different sample lines.
All sample lines are connected to the MCS and one sample line is switched to the main output by a switching valve in the MCS, this main output is connected to the Synspec Delta GC.
To ensure that the Delta GC does not only measure the sample line content, the MSC has an additional flushing pump which can either suck in all sample lines or the next sample line before the Delta GC measures the sample line.
A sample pump with a pump capacity of 5 litres per minute is integrated in the MCS. This capacity is sufficient for the analysis of 100 m 1/4'' sample line in a dead-end configuration.
