Particle size distribution High temperature ELPI+™

High temperature low pressure electrical impactor system HT-ELPI+TM

HT-ELPI+™ (High Temperature ELPI+™) is a special version of ELPI+™, which enables real-time measurement of particle size distribution within a size range from 6 nm to 10 µm at a measurement frequency of 10 Hz. The HT-ELPI+™ allows direct measurements on aerosols with temperatures up to 180°C without cooling the sample. This special feature makes the HT-ELPI+ a special tool for the characterization of high temperature aerosols. In addition, the system offers all advantages of the Dekati® ELPI+™ system, such as the autonomous real-time measurement, the wide concentration and particle size ranges as well as the robust construction of the system. In addition, the HT-ELPI+™ can be used for particle charge distribution measurements and gravimetric impact measurements. The use of impactor technology allows chemical analysis of size-classified particles after measurement.

Measuring principle

The measuring principle of the HT-ELPI+™ corresponds to that of the ELPI+™. However, in the HT-ELPI+™ the impactor and charging unit is placed separately from the base unit and encased by a heating element. The heating element can be heated up to 180 °C so that hot aerosols can be collected directly and without risk of condensation or sample conversion. The impactor holder and the heating controller are integrated in an easy-to-operate unit, which also allows the control of an additional heater (e.g. for sampling line). The HT-ELPI+™ Impactor calibrations at different temperatures (20, 60, 120 and 180 °C) are part of the scope of delivery.
