DNP digital 3000 Spark aerosol generator

Generation of nanoscale test aerosols from graphite, silver (AG), gold (AU), copper (CU) etc. by condensation; carrier gas: nitrogen

The calibration of particle measuring instruments should be performed with particles that have similar properties to the aerosol to be measured in terms of shape, size, density, surface texture and refractive index, e.g. diesel soot.

The new DNP digital 3000 provides a condensation aerosol generated from graphite monoliths. The resulting carbon agglomerates are similar to diesel soot in terms of particle size distribution.

Due to the new digital control, the generator offers an extended setting range as well as an even higher constancy of the particle size and concentration produced.
Function

The DNP digital 3000 aerosol generator generates flashover sparks by applying a high voltage between two graphite electrodes. The flashover sparks are used to tear the tiniest amounts of graphite material out of the electrodes at high temperatures. The graphite evaporating in these sparks then condenses and forms minute particles. Due to the high number concentration, these very small particles can coagulate into agglomerates. By adding mixed air, the aerosol can be diluted and the agglomerate formation can be defined. The generated aerosol distribution is very similar to the distribution of diesel soot particles from a combustion engine.

By means of the digital control of the frequency and the infinitely variable control of the voltage, a more precise control of the distance between the two electrodes is ensured. This ensures a higher constancy of the particle size distribution and the mass flow. Furthermore, each individual spark exchange can be controlled and in principle the energy of the individual spark can be determined. An AK protocol for an Ethernet connection using the UDP protocol is included in the delivery.

Due to the simple commissioning, the very good reproducibility and the high reliability of the function, the DNP digital 3000 is particularly suitable for calibrating particle measuring instruments and complete particle measuring chains.

The DNP digital 3000 in combination with the reference exhaust REF 3000 is used with great success to calibrate the PMP measurement chain in the Particle Measurement program due to its good reproducibility and easy handling.
